The UK may have experienced an intense heat wave this summer that has forced us to swap our heavy duvets with lighter ones. We’ve been doing it during the night because of the sticky heat. However, as soon as we find it easier to adjust to Mediterranean conditions, the nights begin to get colder and the prospect of wind, rain, and cold weather beckons.
As the bright, sunny sunshine rays reflected off the windows of our homes this year, many of us wouldn’t have been able to avoid the desire to change the look of our homes, giving them a more summery vibe. We made the necessary modifications we were advised to make, such as swapping the curtains that were heavy and dark to lighter ones, putting up pretty floral fabric throughout the room, and replacing darker tones with pastel shades. The summer home we live in might look great, but the first signs of autumn leaves beginning to curl around the edges are accompanied by a desire to bring some autumnal energy to our home interiors.
The best part is that our homes are able to change from summer to fall without a lot of cost and hassle.
Orange blankets
We are still not yet fully ensconced into autumn, yet during the transitional season, it’s best to keep the bulk of our summer decor accessories and add a few bits of autumnal elements to the decor. Take, for instance, keeping all of the lovely flower cushions you quickly covered your furniture in the living room earlier in spring but include a blanket of autumn in the mix.
It will give a feeling of the changing seasons within your living space. The theme can be carried into your bedroom by placing an orange blanket over the bed that has been decorated with summer colors.
Faux animal skin
There’s nothing entirely as faux animal skin to give a warm warmth. With the scorching temperatures still a ways off, we do not want to go extravagant with the cozy decor, but putting together a few layers by putting an animal rug on top of existing carpets and fabrics can give a bit of texture. These kinds of textures are ideal for this time of year when we don’t want to see our interior decor be too much influenced by a particular season.
The fruits are a bowel.
You’ll be amazed at how functional a fruit bowl can be in expressing different seasons and moods. When the first summer months give way to late and mid-summer, filling the bowel with pears, apples, fruits, clementines and nuts will add an autumnal theme to your house.
Paint and wallpaper exchange
Your beautiful floral wallpaper oozes the freshness of summer, breeziness and summer, but it looks like it’s stretched a bit. If you’re looking to change to a home that is transitioning from summer to autumn, changing the wallpaper’s floral pattern with warm-colored paint would be a good option.
If scraping off the wallpaper all over sounds too dramatic, Why not concentrate only on just one area? Paint a wall with rust, orange, yellow-brown, or dark green could bring a touch of the changing seasons to your home, but not be too early in saying goodbye to summer.
