Ethnic Interior Design

Global Interior Design draws inspiration from all over the globe. Ethnic style is a popular choice, whether it’s the Moroccan geometric patterns, the vibrant colors of India, or the warm tones from Africa. It’s a way to escape through interior design. A way to preserve travel memories and embrace the cultures of others.

Color

Most people associate ethnic, bohemian or Arabian styles with bright, deep, warm colors that are mixed in with every color possible. This is a good idea if you are brave enough to do it. However, it doesn’t need to be overwhelming if the chosen palette is calmer and more neutral. A simple way to add a touch of ethnic chic to your interior decor is to keep the walls white while choosing warm tones for the furniture, cushions and upholstery fabric. A relaxed linen or cotton fabric in neutral colors is an excellent choice for blinds and curtain fabrics, especially in bedrooms or living rooms. Combining hot pink and burnt oranges or browns is a great combination. You can also use blues and turquoise in your bathroom or kitchen with Moroccan tiles.

The Pattern

No matter what bold colors you choose, the one thing that will always be consistent is a pattern. Solid and detailed patterns are common in Asian, African and Indian designs. These traditional hand-woven textiles are stunning, and you can see them in person if possible. You can mix and match different designs and patterns on cushions, upholstery, wall tapestries, rugs, and cushions. An ikat design is an excellent choice for blind fabrics as it creates a focal point.

Accessory

An ethnic interior is incomplete without accessories. Moroccan lighting, brass, gold, and pewter are all possible combinations with clay pottery. You can make a wall tapestry with a woven textile. This will give it a unique look. Rugs are important. A bathroom or bedroom can be transformed with a beautiful mirror in distressed brass or pewter. The scheme is enhanced with ornaments and souvenirs from different cultures.

Furniture

Keep furniture as low as possible to the ground. Low coffee tables, low footstools, and floor cushions are all excellent options. It is simple to update furniture you already own. Distress any wooden pieces and upholster sofas, chairs, and footstools with bohemian fabrics that will transform the space.
