From Dirty To Clean In Super Quick Time - Cleansing Grubby Blinds

Living in a clean, dust and dirt free space is important to the majority of us. Many of us take pride in our living space and want to maintain it to the best of our ability. A set of blinds can be a spot in our homes which collects a lot of dust, debris, and sometimes even crushed up bugs and insects. Cleaning this space can prove to be a challenge because of the shape, flexibility, and sometimes fragility of the blinds. Getting in between the plastic, strings, and other accoutrements can be a struggle, especially if you have not made a plan on how to go about cleaning.

Quickest Method

The first way you might try to clean your blinds is definitely the simplest. You could grab a feather duster that you have hanging around and simply clean up all of the dust that gathers on your blinds. However, this can sometimes cause more of a mess because feather dusters have a tendency to push dust around into places that it wasn’t before. Of course, a brand new feather duster would not give you as many problems because it will still have a lot of cling to it in order to pick up the dust.

If you are struggling with the feather duster being too bulky or it not actually helping the situation, you could try to use a sock to clean up the blinds. Using a sock you would be able to pinch each blind and grab the debris from both sides at once. This allows you much more control over what you are actually cleaning up and where all of the build-up goes. If you are using this method and you want to get a little bit of extra cleaning, you can use a vinegar and water mixture or you can use some Windex. This would allow you to not only dust the blinds off but also get them looking brighter and newer.

Advanced Cleaning

If you are looking to really get your blinds clean you may want to think about getting some more tools together. You could wash them while they are still hanging in the window by first dusting them off with the feather duster or with your hand in a sock or glove as previously mentioned. After you have completed this step, you would just need to take a wet and soapy sponge and clean the blinds thoroughly. You should, of course, begin with the blinds closed so that you can finish a little bit quicker by wiping down each side as a whole.

You could also remove the blinds from the window and hang them on your shower rod, a clothes line, or anywhere else you feel is sturdy enough. This would allow you to spray water at them and to really get in all the small spaces in between each blind. If you are using this method you will also already have a place for the blinds to dry once you have completed the washing process.
